Ganymede's Library - Literature Written by Ganymede

- Whole Lotta Fanworks -

This is probably the least understandable section of the Library, because this is where I've placed my works of fanfiction.

For those who don't know, fanfiction is basically just stuff one writes about characters from a novel or a TV show or any story you liked so much that you want to put your own spin on it by writing something about it yourself. Therefore, unless you know something about the TV series or the books which have to do with the fanworks I've written and placed here at this section, it might be hard for you to understand what I'm writing about. However, I do think a lot of the pieces here can be enjoyed just for the writing even if you don't know the stuff they're based on, so please check them out if you can. :D

(If you want to read more of my fanworks, I've written many parodies of Terry Brooks' Shannara series at WOOL - Wil Ohmsford On-Line. Also, if you'd like to read some anime parodies I've written, please go to my Okama Punch! site.)

The Warmth Series
1. Finding Sleep
2. Warmth Then
3. Warmth Now
4. Maypole
Here're four pieces of slash (i.e. gay :p) fanfiction I've wrote about Captain Malcolm Reynolds ("Mal") and pilot Hoban Washburne ("Wash") from the great TV show Firefly and the equally amazing movie Serenity. Piece 4 is actually Mal and Simon, not Mal and Wash, but trust me, it IS a part of this series. All four pieces are part of one story, and pieces 1 through 3 draw their inspiration from the "Out of Gas" episode of Firefly while piece 4 occurs much later in the timeline, with a major movie spoiler mentioned in passing. I will be writing more for this series, but I'm not sure when - we'll see. (Lastly, I should warn you that pieces 1, 3, and 4 include graphic sex scenes - "Warmth Then," in contrast, is much more innocent. XD)

Morgan's Song
This is an adaptation of the making of Excalibur's scabbard in Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon. In Mists the Lady of the Lake Viviane (pronounced "vivi-AYNE"), chief priestess of Avalon, orders her priestess Morgaine ("more-GAIN"), or Morgan le Fay, to make Excalibur's scabbard for Morgaine's half-brother Arthur. This fanwork of mine, which I wrote when I was fourteen, is a poem describing the scenes where Morgaine makes the scabbard.

gaslight node
A love poem that I like even if it's kind of corny. It's actually a song I wrote (yes, I set it to music XD) to be the introduction to "The Appearance of Oceanus," a slash/gay fanfiction novella I wrote based on the anime Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon. In that story, Chiba Mamoru and Furuhata Motoki fall in love, and this song is meant to be a joint composition by them both. "Gaslight node" is a synonym I created for neon lights, and the imagery of the gaslight node lighting a path for our hero to find his cute lover waiting in a café at 2 a.m. under neon lights is a subtle mockery of the Bible verse where it says something to the effect of Jesus's lamp lighting the path that leads sinners safely through the darkness to salvation. Obscure allusion, I know, but that's where I got the idea for this poem.

cluttersky
Another song from "The Appearance of Oceanus" that started as a poem and later got set to music. It's meant to be a joint composition by Kaioh Michiru and Furuhata Motoki. Not my best work, but I like the imagery I concocted.

Anne McCaffrey Fanfiction:
Igen Weyr - Persona Sheet - you MUST read this first
Igen Weyr Role Play - Kidnapping
Nerat Incident
alchemy
Igen Weyr Role Play - Virus
Igen Weyr Role Play - Random Conversation
"Igen Weyr" was an online "fanzine," now defunct, that was dedicated to Anne McCaffrey's sci-fi/fantasy world of Pern and was named after one of Pern's landmarks. I joined this fanzine in order to write about the world of Pern with other Pern fans, and these files are what I contributed. The protagonist in all the files is J'torian, a young Igen Weyr dragonrider who rides bronze Storalinth as Wingsecond of Rising Tide Wing, and who is in a relationship with a guy named G'mead. I actually left the fanzine because they introduced new rules, one of which said that the riders of bronze dragons could not be gay. This ruined my character and went against the logic of Pern's world (for if a bronze dragon ridden by a male happened to mate with a green dragon ridden by a male, gay sex between the riders would ensue :p). So anyway, if you are interested in Pern fanfics, here you go. However, I should warn you that I was not able to devote the extensive time that these pieces needed, and the bulk of what I wrote for "Igen Weyr" is romantic, corny, fluffy stuff. *g* Read the "Persona Sheet" first even if it's a boring read - it was required for fanzine members to fill out the sheet and you will not understand what goes on in the rest of my Pern stories unless you read it first. The role plays are e-mail role play sessions in which members of the fanzine participated, and what I have here at the Library are only what I wrote in those role plays. "Nerat Incident" and "alchemy" are a not-so-short story and a poem respectively, both of which focus on the quirks of J'torian and G'mead's relationship.
